First, never get so interested in believing that you forget to think. In general, people stop thinking when they start believing something. This stalls more than a few good thoughts. People believe in God. By believing in God, they do not have to think about God. This single fact has frustrated more than a few ministers over the years. Ministers are trained to think about God. Most expect the people they serve to think about God, too. However, their belief put an end to thinking.
This applies to anything else, too. Those people that believe in a particular political party no longer think about their politics. They believe in it, so they no longer think about it. Does that explain why diehard politicos never seem to change their views? The examples could go on indefinitely as no matter what a person believes in, their thinking about that particular topic is nonexistent.
First of all the memories that make a person believe have to be turned off. Forget the memories that make you believe. Your subconscious mind has now received the instructions to cease using those memories that make you believe. As an additional measure of information, `brainwashing' relies heavily upon your memories making you believe. Thus when someone is being `brainwashed' into believing something, it is important that the person have memories which make him or her believe. You will no longer have any need for concern about being `brainwashed' yourself. Your memories have been discontinued from doing this to you.
It is important that you be able to believe, but in what you choose to believe in. So, remember the memories that let you believe. This instructs you subconscious mind that it is to use memories which give you permission to believe. You already have these memories, it is just a matter of switching your subconscious mind to using them. You are free to choose what or who you believe in.
You'll be surprised how much anger, even stress, this help relieves. So many people are so gung-ho about defending their beliefs that they will argue their beliefs mindlessly for hours. Some will get extremely angry over something that appears to be so insignificant. If you are questioning their beliefs, they react with extreme anger. Be confident in the knowledge that this is no longer you. You just have to bear with others who have not had the benefit of reading this blog.

Interesting point of view, and thoroughly believable. I am going to have my older daughter read this. She currently is dealing with some of those "believers" who cannot see anything else. Thanks for this post!
