“Think!” Ever been told that? Pretty safe to say that you have. The effect that this had was that you quit trusting your thinking. You were young. You were thinking about something very hard. You were doing what you could to figure something out. It wasn’t easy. Someone came along (perhaps a sibling?) and told you “Think!” Well, if someone had to tell you to think, and you were already, then you must not be able to trust your thinking. That certainly doesn’t increase your self confidence!
So, let’s change this behavior right now. Forget the memories that make you trust your thinking. Your subconscious mind has just been told to cease using such memories. After all, such memories haven’t been working. They have been triggering the memories that keep you from trusting your thinking. Now you’ll not have your memories in the way of this behavior.
But let us not forget that there is one more step to get your behavior in line with your need to have confidence in yourself. Remember the memories that let you trust your thinking. This statement engages memories you already have to allow you to trust your thinking. Your subconscious mind knows which memories these are. It will automatically use these to direct your behavior from now on.
This is the fifth step to building your self confidence. It is a part of the whole process, but of itself it is very important. Consider this, in your job you are depended on to think of things that will improve things for everyone. If you can’t trust your thinking, it takes you many times longer to think of things that it should. Now that you can trust your thinking, you will feel free to share ideas on the spur of the moment. Many times the best ideas are spontaneous. Congratulations!
