Self Confidence, Part 4

November 24, 2005 / by psychovirus

Hearing is very important. It is one of the two primary ways that we take in information. (Seeing is the other primary way.) Yet do you trust your hearing? Or are you like the vast majority? You see, when we were kids, we heard “Don’t believe everything you hear.” What happens? This becomes a memory which your subconscious mind uses to direct your behavior. Then there are all those times when a similar memory is developed. These reinforce your behavior.

So, what do we do? Forget the memories the make you trust your hearing. Such memories have not been working to your advantage. The memories that were suppose to make you trust your hearing have triggered memories that keep you from trusting your hearing. By ending the effect of memories that make you trust your hearing, the memories that keep you from trusting your hearing no longer direct your behavior either.

Now to make sure that you trust your hearing. Remember the memories that let you trust your hearing. This tells your subconscious mind that it will use those memories which give allow you to trust your hearing. In other words, now you will trust your hearing.

This has a pleasantly surprising effect. Instead of asking people to repeat things, you hear what they say the first time. That has got to be good for you as well as everyone around you. This continues the process of building your self-confidence. Only two more to go!
