"Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" Thus begins the testimony of any witness in a court room. Just because the witness responds with "I do", does it mean that everything they say is the truth? The answer is no it does not. If someone is going to lie, they are going to lie regardless of any oath they take. Yet, the truth is the truth. Any alteration to reality made by a lie does not change reality, only the perception of reality is changed. This is why it is always best to tell the truth. It keeps reality and the perception of reality coherent, cohesive, and congruent.
In the event that you have the problem of lying in preference to telling the truth, this article is for you. Forget the memories that make you lie. Yes, lie. You have memories created long ago that guide your subconscious mind. These memories direct your behavior such that you lie rather than tell the truth. It could come from getting in trouble as a child. You did something that you knew was wrong. You were confronted about it. You lied to protect yourself from punishment. It worked! You were not punished. This memory directs your behavior since then. Therefore, forget the memories that make you lie eliminates the direction of this memory as well as any others like it.
Believe it or not, there are occasions when it is acceptable to lie. One time this is true that comes to mind is a friend or relative is in the hospital. Your friend or relative is dying. They are asking about someone who is not there. Here is the quandary. Are you going to tell them that the person they are asking about is not coming? Or, are you going to lie by telling them that this person is on their way? Are you going to make a dying friend or relative more miserable or are you going to use a lie to give them some comfort or peace as they die?
If you have any compassion in you, you are going to lie. To be certain that this is possible, remember the memories that let you lie. Thus your subconscious mind is guided to use memories which will direct your behavior appropriately. Your own memories of using a lie to give peace and/or comfort will guide your behavior to do this when it is appropriate. However you will not lie as a normal behavior anymore. Instead you will use the truth!
